The Department of Hispanic Studies invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2008. The successful candidate would be expected to conduct research and teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in the broad field of Transatlantic Studies, framed in the context of Colonial and/or Post-colonial exchanges and the historical and discursive formation of the Americas. Special emphasis on race and ethnicity, traveling theory, reading and visual culture. This new position is designed to 1) promote informed discussion and research in the literary and cultural triangle of the Americas, Africa, and Europe; 2) rethink the academic boundaries that define Spanish and Latin American studies; and 3) explore common problems through a variety of disciplines.
