Censo de grupos en sectores prioritarios de la Eurorregión
La plataforma de grupos de investigación de la Eurorregión Galicia-Norte de Portugal surge en el marco de un proyecto desarrollado por la Fundación CEER y financiado por la Consellería de Cultura, Educación e Ordenación Universitaria de la Xunta de Galicia. Su objetivo es impulsar la transferencia de investigación en el Sistema Universitario Gallego y promover la colaboración a ambos lados de la frontera para la realización de proyectos conjuntos.
Para la creación de esta plataforma fueron seleccionados grupos de investigación de la Eurorregión que trabajan en las áreas establecidas por la Estrategia de Especialización Inteligente Transfronteriza (RIS3T) y el Plan de Inversiones Conjuntas de la Eurorregión.

1)Applied Organic Chemistry
Synthesis and characterization of new photochromic organic molecules for use in optical devices and textiles.
Development of new dyes to act as photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy of cancer, ligands for affinity chromatography of proteins, fluorescent NIR probes for biomolecules and to be used in dye-sensitized solar cells.
Synthesis of new calixarene-based architectures for molecular recognition, catalysis, electronic and optoelectronic devices and sensory applications.
2)Materials Chemistry
Synthesis and characterization of new oxide materials (bulk ceramic and thin films) for the technologic development of electronic devices and renewable energy.
Synthesis of structured nanomaterials, characterisation and application as catalysts for CO, NOx or VOC’s oxidation reactions.
Applications of novel graphene- and C dots-based carbon nanostructures in fuel cells and energy storage.
Synthesis of novel (nano)catalysts containing a metal element alloyed to a non-metal element for application in fuel cells.
Synthesis of novel multifunctional hierarchically structured ordered (non-doped and doped) organic/inorganic nanohybrids exhibiting complex behaviour and tuneable properties for application in optical devices and sensors.
Bio-inspired biomineralization of scaffolds with calcium carbonate for bone regeneration and drug delivery.
Green nanohybrid electrolytes for electrochromic devices using amorphous biopolymer/siloxane electrolytes doped with salts, acids and/or ILs.
3) Environmental Chemistry
- Innovative AOP (heterogeneous Fenton and TiO2-mediated photocatalytic oxidation) to reduce the contamination level present in problematic wastewaters, like winery wastewaters, olive mill wastewaters and textile wastewaters.
- Development of low cost biosorbents for removal of heavy metals, endocrine disruptors compounds, pharmaceutical active ingredients and pesticides from water.
- Development of new solid biofuels with high calorific value, produced as pellets or bricks, from olive oil wastes with other industrial and agro-industrial wastes, and improve the BioCombus technology to allow consolidation and replication in similar or new situations.
- Perform new studies on soil organic and inorganic phosphorus dynamics using a sequential fractionation method under field conditions. Study and evaluation of environmental risks derived from the use of phosphate fertilizers and from animal manure addition
- Understand the vulnerability of aquifer systems to contamination and the impacts of pollution on natural hydrochemical processes.
4) Food Chemistry & Biochemistry
Chemical and biochemical characterization of food bioactive compounds and changes during production and processing for an healthier diet
Development of innovative technologies for food processing including functional foods
Development of analytical methods for food safety and quality control Valorization of agro-food industry by-products
